Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Travel)

Unit Information

• Unit Name: D3-A (ICU/PCU Overflow)
• Number of Beds: 10
• Patient Ratios:

  • ICU: 2:1
  • PCU: 4-5:1
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
• Unit Staffing Notes: No unit secretaries or patient care technicians (PCTs). Charge nurse is out of staffing.
• Floating Policy: Yes, travelers will be required to float.
• On Call Requirements: No
• Scheduling: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required, holiday support required.
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs

Required Skills and Experience

• Specialty: Medical ICU experience in a large facility
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty (RN critical care)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (assumed not required)
• Advanced Skills Needed:

  • Ventilator management
  • Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
  • Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
  • Central line management
• Procedures: Assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations.
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
• Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Additional Information

• Must be a critical thinker, flexible, and work well with others.
• Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
• Bedside shift report is mandatory.
• Relief charge nurse expected to perform nurse leader rounding.
• Equipment used includes lift equipment, targeted temperature management (TTM), ventilators, IV pumps, etc.
