Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Specialty

  • Radiology / Cardiology
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required in specialty (higher value confirmed)
  • Proficient in both peripheral vascular Interventional Radiology (IR) and neurovascular IR
  • Technologist must be able to scrub both peripheral and neuro cases including:
    • Stents, Angioplasty, Angiograms, Nephrogram, Peripherals, Drainages
    • Upper and Lower Extremity, Abdomen and Pelvic, Vascular Studies, Venous Access, Neurological Studies

Call Requirements

  • On call every 3rd or 4th weekend
  • Call shifts start Friday 5:30 PM through Monday 7:00 AM
  • If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift:
    • Must make up the day during the pay period if 0.9 FTE
    • If unable to make up during pay period (0.9 FTE), shift added at end of contract
    • For 1.2 FTE, call-in shifts added to end of contract

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on cost center
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit or specialty (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification)

Department Details

  • 4 IR rooms: 2 single plane and 2 biplane Siemens C-arms
  • Two IR techs per room: one circulates, one scrubs
  • Level 1 trauma, PE, stroke center
  • Procedures include angiograms, embolizations, nephrostomy, IVC filter placement, PE thrombectomy, intracranial thrombectomy, stent placements, central line insertions

Experience & Travel Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, education verification
  • State license verification within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required annually

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • HIPAA and facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required (not for techs or RRTs)
  • On-site fit testing available only as last resort with limitations

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced Cath Lab Techs skilled in advanced IR procedures within a Level 1 trauma and stroke center environment.
