    Job Opportunity: Cardiac Recovery Registered Nurse (RN)

    Location: Long Beach, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking a Registered Nurse for Cardiac Recovery in a Cath Lab Holding unit. The position involves 12-hour day shifts with variable start times and weekend coverage.


    Shift Details

    • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
    • Variable start times: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM, or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM
    • Weekend requirement: 1 weekend per month, Saturday & Sunday 7 AM - 7 PM

    Specialty & Experience Requirements

    • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cardiac Recovery)
    • Required Years of Experience: 1 year in specialty
    • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

    Required Certifications

    • RN License valid in California
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI accepted
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI accepted
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI accepted
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
    • Additional certifications may be required based on unit

    Required Skills & Clinical Competencies

    • Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
    • Management of dysrhythmias
    • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
    • Pacemaker (temporary and permanent) care
    • Post cardiac angiogram and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
    • Sheath removal and TR Band management
    • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) care
    • Arterial line management
    • Blood product administration
    • Central and peripheral line care/management
    • Phlebotomy and PICC line management
    • IV insertion and maintenance
    • Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
    • Oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
    • Isolation precautions and PPE use
    • Documentation in EPIC system
    • Communication using SBAR technique

    Technology & Systems

    • Medication system: Omnicell
    • Documentation system: EPIC
    • Communication system: SBAR

    Required Health & Compliance Documents

    • Physical exam within 1 year
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
    • Immunizations and titers: TDAP, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
    • Flu vaccine during flu season (Nov-April), declination allowed
    • COVID vaccination record preferred
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel)
    • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
    • Professional references (2 required)
    • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
    • Annual internal evaluation if employed for 1 year or more

    Additional Requirements

    • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
    • Emergency contact form
    • Completion of facility-specific education modules including:
      • EPIC education
      • YouLearn modules
      • HIPAA compliance training
    • Pass/fail competency exams including medication calculation and EKG/dysrhythmia competency
    • Color blindness testing (annual)

    Dress Code
