Job Description
Seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in the Operating Room. The role requires skills in a wide range of surgical procedures including but not limited to:
- General OR procedures
- Bariatric surgeries (Gastric bypass, Sleeve, Lap band)
- Vascular surgeries (Aortic aneurysm repair, Carotid angioplasty/stenting, Endovascular aneurysm repair)
- Thoracic surgeries (Lung resection, Thoracotomy, VATS)
- ENT procedures (Endoscopic sinus, Laryngectomy, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy)
- Gastrointestinal surgeries (Colonoscopy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection)
- Gynecological surgeries (Hysterectomy, Dilation & Curettage, Tubal ligation)
- Orthopedic and spine surgeries (Arthroscopy, Spinal fusion, Total joint replacement)
- Urological surgeries (Cystectomy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy)
- Other specialized procedures including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Free Flap Microvascular, and more.
Unit experience needed includes ortho-total joint and trauma, neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, and thoracic specialties.
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid RN license for New York
- Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted, as required by unit
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required by unit
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required by unit
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs except birthing units & OR
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred
- Call Required: Yes
- First-time travelers: Not accepted (must have prior travel experience)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
Schedule & Other Details
- Open to block scheduling but not guaranteed
- Local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) restrictions
- Scrubs color: Teal
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and updated monthly
- Education verification from primary source required
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations
- References: 2 references within 3 years required for Aya candidates
- Employment application and work history verification required
