Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
• Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift using nursing processes
• Establish and update individualized plans of care based on assessments
• Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights
• Assess and document medication effectiveness and any adverse effects
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing practice, hospital policies, sterile technique, and patient privacy
• Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
• Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and healthcare team using SBAR communication
• Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Manage patients in restraints per policy and understand application criteria
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including infection control and blood transfusion documentation
• Understand and participate in hospital emergency codes and disaster plans (Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, Haz Mat, Oxygen shut off)
• Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize patient needs
• Care for patients across the age continuum from birth to geriatric
• Respond to minor to life-threatening illness or injury
• Complete ED skills checklist before first scheduled shift
• Understand patient flow in the ED including Rapid Medicine Evaluation (RME)
• Perform nursing activities related to admission and discharge
• Use chain of command within the ED and understand the teaching/physician residency model
• Safely administer high-risk medications following hospital/ED policy

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN License
• ACLS, BLS, and CPI Certification
• TNCC or ATCN Certification
• NIHSS and PALS Certification
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma; 4 years preferred
• Prior travel experience required: minimum 1 year travel experience
• Experience in a facility with at least 40 beds
• Some exposure to Pediatrics (PEDS)
• Epic electronic health record experience highly preferred
• Travel candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Return to Office (RTO) maximum 8 days
• Must be able to start by December 22
