Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Room (ER) position on a travel/contract basis in California.
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California.
- Experience: Minimum years of specialty experience not explicitly stated; default to 13 weeks contract length, but typically ER RN roles require at least 1-2 years of ER nursing experience. Use the higher years of experience if specified elsewhere.

Required Background and Compliance Checks
- Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years. Must include SSN trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and County checks, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if Home Health), and others as applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; instant tests not accepted.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Fit Mask Test: Required annually; must be medically cleared for respirator use.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years or declination accepted.
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Within 12 months of start; annual updates required.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or signed declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (9/1–3/30) or declination accepted.
- COVID Vaccine or Declination: Required.
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Annual medical clearance for respirator use required.
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: As applicable by profession.
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable by specialty.

Facility and System Specific Requirements

- Float Policy Acknowledgement: Required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
