Job Opportunity: RN - ER - Travel
Location: Moreno Valley, California
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Travel
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Description
- Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
- Reassess patient health needs at least every shift using nursing processes
- Establish and update individualized plans of care based on assessments
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights
- Assess and document medication effectiveness and any adverse effects
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to hospital policies, sterile technique, and patient privacy
- Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress accurately and legibly
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
- Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and healthcare team using SBAR communication
- Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
- Manage patients in restraints per policy and understand application criteria
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including infection control and blood transfusion protocols
- Understand and activate Disaster Plan and Rapid Response Team roles
- Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Haz Mat, Fire, Oxygen shut off)
- Follow guidelines for Core Measures and Vaccine protocols
- Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize patient needs
- Care for patients across the age continuum from birth to geriatric
- Respond to minor to life-threatening illness or injury
- Complete ED skills checklist before first scheduled shift
- Understand patient flow through ED including Rapid Medicine Evaluation (RME)
- Perform nursing activities related to admission and discharge
- Use chain of command within the ED appropriately
- Understand teaching/physician residency model in the ED
- Safely administer high-risk medications following hospital/ED policy
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum of 4 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Trauma experience
- Pediatrics experience
- Minimum of 2 years of total travel nursing experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- CPI certification
- TNCC or ATCN certification
- NIHSS certification
- PALS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 8 days
This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with trauma background and prior travel nursing experience looking for a travel assignment in California.
