Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Santa Monica, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with current acute hospital experience. Candidates must have worked in the role within the last 6 months. This is a travel/contract position at an acute care facility with a patient ratio of 1:20. Weekend shifts are required (at least 2 weekends in a 4-week schedule).
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 months of current acute hospital experience (must have worked in the role within the last 6 months).
- No prior travel experience required (first-time travelers are not accepted).
Licensure
- California RN license required (pending license accepted).
Certifications (Must be current and valid)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
Note: Certification requirements may vary based on specialty and unit.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of Interqual criteria
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Work Schedule
- Must be available to work at least 2 weekends in a 4-week schedule.
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days off.
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Facility
- Dress code: Business casual with lab coat or dark solid scrubs with lab coat
Required Background & Compliance Documents
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Education verification (nursing degree verification required).
- Drug screening (10 panel within 90 days of start).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory safety clearance (annual medical clearance for respirator use).
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (updated annually)
References & Employment History
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of required WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules based on unit and region
- Epic training modules (for SoCal and other specified regions)
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of acute hospital case management experience within the last year
- Experience in case management and utilization review (InterQual)
- Knowledge of InterQual criteria
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Acute care experience
