Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Case Management / Discharge Planning
Location: Jackson, Mississippi
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Holiday Requirements: Rotated as needed
Weekend Requirements: None
Caseload: 15-20 patients/consults per day
Dress Code: Any color scrubs or business professional attire
Orientation: 2 weeks (includes general facility orientation)
Work Environment: Will work alongside Case Management team; never working alone
Job Description
Seeking highly experienced Registered Nurses with acute inpatient case management and discharge planning expertise. Minimal training will be provided; candidates must be able to quickly adapt and work efficiently.
The RN will cover all inpatient units throughout the hospital and collaborate with a Social Work team, as well as consult with Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy as needed for discharge planning.
This position involves managing complex patient placements, including those requiring financial assistance criteria for uninsured or underinsured patients. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma center, handling a variety of complex cases.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of acute inpatient case management experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a large hospital setting (500+ beds, Level 1/Academic Medical Center)
- Recent acute inpatient case management experience within the last 2 years
- Acute discharge planning experience
- Nursing degree (RN preferred, BSN preferred, ADN considered)
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Epic EMR
- CCM certification preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemption allowed with documented evidence)
- Fingerprint background check required (remote or in-person options available)
- Must be able to work within a 50-mile radius
