CT Scan Technologist
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. The role also assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history for procedures; document and scan into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/family members.
- Identify and/or administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify appropriateness of exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologists or Referring Physicians if needed.
- Verify insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications as necessary.
- Obtain and schedule outside studies for comparison by Radiologists.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians/family members.
- Evaluate radiographs using PACS to ensure diagnostic quality and proper identification.
- Gather relevant information from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare scanning protocols and ensure patient safety.
- Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
- Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast to administer.
- Explain procedures and address patient questions and concerns.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance according to guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime and on-call as needed.
- Adhere to organizational policies on behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
- Physically able to lift at least 25 lbs, push/pull 50 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
- Modify and deliver care specific to patient needs including age, culture, language, and disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
- ARRT(R) certification
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program or High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred
- Experience with Epic and HIS/RIS systems
Additional Information
- Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
- Physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, and prolonged standing.
