Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: San Carlos, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description
- Provide nursing care in an acute patient setting with a focus on Endoscopy/GI procedures.
- Administer sedation to patients during procedures.
- Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Educate patients and families and assist with transitions of care.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to ensure optimal patient experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California with verification through NURSYS and state licensing authorities.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Endoscopy experience, including the ability to administer sedation in Endoscopy/GI settings.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
- Tech Cert Verification - National.
- MAB (Medication Administration by RN) certification.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Documentation and verification of professional licenses and certifications including State License copy and State License 1 verification.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and other regulatory screenings.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screenings.
- Education verification required; BSN preferred.
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana due to CA law) within 6 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination with mask requirement
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for clinical roles.
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with verification of employment and explanation of gaps over 30 days.
Certifications & Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some units.
- Other certifications may be position-dependent; verify with recruiter or manager.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must review and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreements, and regulatory orientations.
- Religious exemptions for PAPR (powered air-purifying respirator) use and certain vaccine requirements are considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
