Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Provide competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care in the Emergency Department. Care must align with unit, department, and hospital policies, evidence-based nursing practices, and standards of care.
Shift:
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Variable shift times: 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a
On-Call/Weekend Requirement:
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No call
Additional:
- Must be willing to float to other campuses for support within scope of practice when census permits
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) RN experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- CCRN certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Tech Cert Verification - National
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and other required screenings (updated annually as applicable)
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination (during flu season)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Respiratory safety clearance, renewed annually
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement)
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, verified
Certifications and Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS certification required
- Additional certifications may be required based on position (e.g., CCRN, TNCC)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- EKG competency exam may be required
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and sign job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and other regulatory documents prior to start
- Complete TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Compliance with dress code policy
- Completion of respiratory safety clearance and fit testing
- Religious exemption forms available for certain requirements (e.g., PAPR, vaccines)
