    Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

    Location: San Francisco, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    Provide competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care in the Emergency Department. Care must align with unit, department, and hospital policies, scientific principles, evidence-based nursing practices, nursing objectives, and standards of care.


    Shift Details

    • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
    • Variable shifts: 7am-7pm, 11am-11pm, 3pm-3am, 7pm-7am
    • Every other weekend rotation required; no on-call

    Note: Floating to other campuses may be required when census permits, within scope of practice.


    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) RN experience within the last year
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and other federal/state screenings as applicable
    • Education verification (highest level achieved) required
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
    • Immunizations and titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (per protocol)
      • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
    • Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually
    • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement)
    • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps

    Competency and Certification Exams

    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
    • Pass/fail EKG exam required onsite for ICU RNs at certain locations
