Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Weston, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work hours: 1100-2330 with liver call; may assist with other cases if no liver/transplant cases available.
  • Must have strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplants.
  • Proficiency required in Misonix/CUSA equipment.
  • Experience required in organ implantation (not just harvesting).
  • Position is in the Operating Room specialty for Registered Nurses.
  • Nurse will be on-call: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month.
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected.
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated.
  • Locals accepted at the same rate.
  • Pending licenses accepted.
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts.
  • Time-sensitive training modules must be prioritized and completed promptly.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of direct liver/transplant experience with strong expertise in liver, heart, lung (pulmonary), and kidney transplants
  • Experience in organ implantation (putting organs back in the new patient), not just harvesting
  • Proficiency with Misonix/CUSA surgical equipment
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

License Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Florida or pending with verification.

Special Requirements

  • Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine (cotinine) required.
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application.
  • Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) will be administered during orientation.
  • Must complete required online onboarding and training modules prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date required.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required.
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season unless approved medical/religious exemption.
  • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption required.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions required.
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start.

  • Facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with approximately 230 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Scrub color: Ceil Blue.

  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years required.

  • Radiation badges issued if applicable.
