MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment and related systems to perform MRI exams. Collaborate with radiologists and staff regarding patient testing. Provide direct patient care to high acuity patients including emergency, inpatient, outpatient, trauma, and ICU settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform contrast injections under direct supervision of radiologist or designated physician.
- Assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients across all age groups (neonate to geriatric).
- Acquire tomographic images using MRI equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Prepare and position patients accurately for imaging.
- Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and patient data to image management systems.
- Conduct patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to MRI exams.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the department and procedure areas.
- Perform additional duties as needed by the department.
Required Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience.
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of insurance benefit and eligibility websites.
- Familiarity with medical insurance terminology.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
- Push/pull patients on beds or stretchers requiring up to 29 lbs. push force.
- Perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight.
- Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift.
- May require kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR as part of patient care duties.
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA approved.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Other certifications may be required based on specific unit needs (e.g., Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- National certification/verification prior to facility start and upon expiration as applicable.
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manuals and pass/fail testing as required.
- Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive antibody titer (declinations not accepted).
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
- Respirator medical clearance annually if applicable.
Background & Screening Requirements
- Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- State-specific clearances including child abuse search and fingerprint results within 90 days of start.
- Education verification for highest level completed.
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
Additional Information
- Must comply with MRI safety practices at all times.
- Work environment includes hospital settings with emergency, trauma, ICU, inpatient, and outpatient care.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
