Cath Lab RN Travel Opportunity - California
Job Title
- Registered Nurse (RN)
Location
- Bakersfield, California
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit and Work Environment
- Cardiac Cath Lab with 5 suites:
- 2 suites for coronary cases
- 1 suite for peripheral cases
- 1 suite for vascular & neuro cases
- 1 suite for electrophysiology (EP) cases
- Cases per day range from 10 to 22, including cardiac/coronary, vascular, peripheral, general interventional radiology, EP, and neuro interventions
- RN role includes conscious and moderate sedation, airway management, cardiac drips (e.g., Integrilin, dopamine, vasopressins), and balloon pumps
- Scrubbing is not required
- Support staff includes 2 techs per case (1 scrubs, 1 monitors hemodynamics), sometimes a 4th person (RN or tech), and a Lead Tech managing room assignments
- EMR systems used: Cath lab documentation via Merge; hospital system is Cerner
Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts (approximately 40 hours/week)
- Start times vary between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM
- No weekend shifts; however, call rotation is required
- Call frequency: approximately 1 weekday call per week and 1 weekend call per month
- Weekend call covers Friday evening through Monday morning (subject to change)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab nursing experience (highest required years of experience)
- Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers)
- Current California RN license
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification through AHA
Additional Information
- Basic EKG interpretation test during orientation; critical care RNs have additional testing
- Agency provides radiation badge
- Scrub color provided by the hospital
- No floating required except occasional days or every other weekend as first to float
- This is a STEMI (ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction) center with urgent and emergent inpatient cases requiring call coverage
