Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Camden, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Floating assignment across 5 hospitals within skillset.
- Work primarily in Special Care Nursery Level II and NICU as needed.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients.
- Block scheduling is NOT allowed.
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; late submissions not accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if assigned to applicable units.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for applicable pediatric units.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology tests as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia competency testing required for certain specialties (not specifically for NICU).
- NURSYS verification required for RN license.
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months.
- Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation (must be done before first shift).
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year; chest X-ray if positive history.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by October 31 (flu season ends March 31).
- 10-panel drug screen (without THC panel) within 6 months of start; updated annually.
- Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better).
- Latex questionnaire.
- Background check covering 7 years of residence/employment, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
Documentation & Administrative Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation.
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- E-Verify proof or attestation.
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start date (NJ state requirement).
- Two professional references within the last 2 years.
- Facility-specific documents including badge photo (time sensitive).
- Personal or auto insurance if assigned to home health locations.
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments require flexibility to work across multiple hospital locations.
- Candidates must pass all required certifications and background checks before starting.
- Candidates cannot start if any required certification expires within 30 days of contract start.
- Dysrhythmia testing and pass/fail exams must be completed within specified timeframes to avoid contract cancellation.
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs comfortable with floating assignments and working in a high-acuity neonatal environment.
