Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Scheduling: No block scheduling; floating between similar units required
- Work Schedule: 4x12 shifts allowed upon request
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Locals and Pending Licenses: Not accepted

Required Experience and Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Post-Partum nursing (hard stop)
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Preferred certification: AWHONN Advanced
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
- NURSYS verification required as applicable
Required Documents and Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- E-Verify attestation
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification (nursing degree)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Work history verification if exceptions to references are requested
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually (travel only)
- Fit mask test (annual), completed onsite if no valid record within 1 year
Training and Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam (for L&D RNs)
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules via WorkRamp LMS platform (required for travel and per diem)
- Epic training modules completion required (varies by region and role)
Additional Requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other nearby units or facilities)
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required for badge issuance
- Compliance with state-specific background and license requirements (e.g., Washington state searches if applicable)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN Intermediate certification

- Prior travel experience is not required
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of submission
- Facility uses specific scrub colors for different roles (RNs: Royal Blue or Navy Blue)
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a travel contract in an acute care hospital setting with a focus on night shifts and a 1:3 patient ratio.
