Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel Assignment

Shift & Hours

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday shifts required
• Possible call or standby shifts (up to 3 during the contract)

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Critical Access Hospital, Level III verified trauma center
• ER has 11 beds/trauma bays
• Patient volume: 20-40 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: up to 1:4 (state ratio)
• No separate fast track or psych/seclusion rooms
• One triage room; travelers expected to perform triage
• ER holds are managed by ER nurses; no separate holding area
• In-house security present
• No monitor techs; RNs read cardiac strips
• CT and X-ray located immediately adjacent to ER; no transport team
• Phlebotomy performed by dedicated staff; RNs draw blood when starting IVs
• Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, Airvo)
• Respiratory therapists perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• EMR system: Cerner
• Unit techs available from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM when possible
• No charge nurse on shift; one house supervisor present at all times
• Floating to ICU is desirable but not required
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Unit-specific orientation provided

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience within the last 3 years
• Active California RN license
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge preferred

• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• No transport team for imaging
• Nurses manage ER holds independently
