Rad Tech Position - Quincy, Illinois

Job Overview

• Specialty: Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech)
• Location: Quincy, Illinois
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
• Department: Radiology - General X-Ray
• Work Areas: Emergency Department (ED), Operating Room (OR), Inpatient (all X-ray only)
• Imaging Equipment:

  • Fixed units and portables: Carestream
  • Fluoroscopy: Siemens
  • C-arms: GE OEC (5 surgical c-arms), plus cysto fluoro table and hybrid OR vascular unit (Siemens)
• Average Daily Volume:

  • 100-150 plain film scans
  • 10-15 OR cases

Job Duties

• Perform portable and fixed X-ray exams in ED, OR, and inpatient settings
• Conduct non-OR fluoroscopic exams based on experience and comfort level
• Precept radiology students during the contract
• Participate in on-call/standby coverage for OR tech weekday shifts (self-scheduled)
• Cover 1-3 on-call weekends during the contract period
• Assist with holiday coverage as needed

Scheduling

• Block scheduling with some flexibility
• Only one X-ray tech on site from 11:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Orientation typically occurs during scheduled shifts

Required Qualifications

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Must have Operating Room (OR) experience
• Experience with portable X-ray exams

Additional Information

• No IV starts required
• No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) in department
• Radiologist available in-house Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Dress code: light grey scrubs (not provided); surgical scrubs acceptable when covering OR
• Department has multiple scanners/rooms:

  • 2 fixed ED units
  • 1 fixed department unit
  • 5 portable units (all Carestream)
  • 1 fluoro unit
  • 1 C-arm for video swallow studies
  • 5 surgical C-arms (all OEC)
  • Cysto fluoro table
  • Hybrid OR vascular unit (Siemens)
• EMR/PACS systems used: BAR (Allscripts-based), Scimage PICOM (PACS)
