Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
• Develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Communicate changes in patient clinical condition with physicians, nursing supervisors/managers, and coworkers.
• Participate in discharge planning.

Unit Information

• Behavioral Health unit with 104 beds across five units (adult, pediatric ages 5-17, and geriatric).
• Patient ratios approximately 1:8, with lower ratios for pediatric and geriatric units.
• Shift supervisors oversee the unit.
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
• Float requirements apply.

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM.
• 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Every other weekend required.
• No call responsibilities.
• No block scheduling.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• BLS certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Experience in an inpatient setting.
• Willingness and ability to float to other units/areas as required.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Prior experience in behavioral health nursing.
• Familiarity with common diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, and anxiety.

Additional Information

• Dress code: Blue scrubs.
• No specialized equipment required.
