Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry (4th Floor)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule:
- 4-week schedules with self-scheduling (finalized by manager)
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day on major holidays (Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day, Thanksgiving)
Unit Details
- Unit Type: Telemetry / Surgical / Neuro (two units: 4A and 4B)
- Bed Count: 48 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
- Telemetry monitored remotely; Telemetry techs on 3rd floor read and post strips
- RNs interpret telemetry strips and must sign at least once per shift
- Charge Nurse does not take patient assignments
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly Progressive Care Unit (PCU) if qualified
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
- Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
- General, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Ability to read basic telemetry strips
- Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA preferred
- Cerner electronic health record experience recommended (only 1 day of orientation)
Clinical Practice Notes
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Common set-rate drip: Diltiazem
- Respiratory equipment used on unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on the unit
