Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Evening (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Experience Required: Minimum 5 years as an RN in Emergency Room (ER) setting
- Schedule: Every other weekend required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid for 4 years
- State RN License - primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification for RN license within 30 days of start
Additional certifications may be required based on position specifics; verify with recruiter.
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS III cannot be run)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Negative TB test (QGold, TSPOT, or PPD) within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations considered for religious exemptions or facial hair)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
Required Documentation
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, including city and state of employment
- Two professional references within 3 years (clinical candidates)
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job description
- Standards of business conduct
- Vendor training and code of conduct (for contracts signed 5/31/24 and beyond)
- Overpayment refund policy
- TB questionnaire
- Request for religious accommodation form (if applicable)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
