Description
Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
- Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of RN experience as specified by hiring manager
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years
- State RN License – primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (for RN license) within 30 days of start
- Background checks including 7-year history and various federal/state screenings (details below)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps, and verification of employment for up to 7 years
- 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must indicate clearance for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days of start or 2-step PPD testing
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
Additional Requirements
- Must work every other weekend
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and possibly dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job description
- Standards of business conduct
- Vendor training and code of conduct (for current and future years)
- Overpayment refund policy
- TB questionnaire (signed by candidate and healthcare provider)
- Conditional offer of employment attestation
- Religious exemption forms available for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccine requirements; must be approved case-by-case
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
- Emergency Department experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
