Description
Pediatric Rheumatology Travel Nurse
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Job Summary
Provide general nursing care in a pediatric rheumatology clinic setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, assisting healthcare providers, patient assessment, education, and documentation. Utilize critical thinking and evidence-based practice to develop and modify individualized care plans.
Patient Population
- Pediatric patients with rheumatology conditions
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
- Administer medications and treatments; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Assess and address psychological, emotional, cultural, social, and developmental needs of patients and families
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on health needs and resources
- Facilitate patient throughput including admission, discharge, and transfer planning
- Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment; ensure proper use and maintenance
- Process and validate medical orders, including standing and preprinted orders
- Read and interpret patient charts accurately; identify and report discrepancies
- Promote patient safety and respond to safety concerns from patients and families
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members across the continuum of care
- Participate in nursing research, quality improvement, and compliance with clinical policies
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Completion of a Nurse Residency Program
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric clinical patient care experience within the last year
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
