Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Los Angeles, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Registered Nurse (RN) for Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Requires 2 years of ICU nursing experience
- Must hold a valid California RN license
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (valid within 1 year of start)
- Fire Card issued by an LAFD-approved instructor (must be obtained within 30 days of start; Blue Fire Card only, Red card not accepted)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (valid within 1 year prior to start, does not expire)
Required Health Documents
- Physical exam clearance within the past year
- Fit mask testing within 12 months prior to start (acceptable masks: 3M Aura 9205+ or 3M 1860 Small)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (QGold, Tspot, or two-step PPD with proper timing; documentation required for past positives)
- Positive titers or boosters for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination with proof of prior vaccination or negative titer)
- Varicella
- 9-Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (September–March)
- COVID vaccination documentation or declination
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled, sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification via transcript, diploma, or education verification form
- Professional references: 2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care
- Employment application required
- Annual skills checklist
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of orientation checklists within first 30 days (general orientation, unit-specific competency, CORE competency, unit tour)
- Completion of de-escalation modules attestation
- Completion of arbitration agreement and voluntary meal waiver
- Access request form and badge/parking form
- Assault Responsive Competency (ARC) training within 30 days of start (live 4-hour training; cost approx. $80)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
