Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) - Travel/Contract
Location: Lakeport, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
- Travel Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) position requiring credentialing through the health system after offer acceptance (credentialing process takes several weeks).
- Split call responsibilities with another RNFA.
- Required to work 2 weekends per month.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum 2 years of First Assist experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment.
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
- Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Operating Room (OR) experience.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including social security trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable.
- Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented.
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually, with negative TB test or chest x-ray as required.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually; PAPR training if fit test failed.
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually.
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only).
Documentation and Verification
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; employment verification for up to 7 years required.
- Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical candidates.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Primary source license verification (e.g., NURSYS) within 30 days of start.
- Official transcripts/diplomas or attestation of verification attempts required for education verification.
