Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER) - Registry
Location: Moreno Valley, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Shift: Registry Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Contract Length: Approximately 52 weeks (363 days)
Job Description
- Assess patients on admission within specified time frames, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift or as warranted by condition changes.
- Establish and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data and reassessments.
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the "7 rights" of medication administration.
- Assess and document effectiveness and adverse effects of medications and treatments.
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy.
- Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly.
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs using approved educational materials.
- Interpret and analyze diagnostic data and reports; intervene appropriately.
- Communicate promptly any changes in patient condition to physicians and healthcare team members using SBAR communication during handoffs.
- Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
- Apply and manage patient restraints per policy when necessary.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers.
- Understand and participate in hospital disaster plans and rapid response protocols.
- Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards including Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, HazMat spills, and oxygen shutoff procedures.
- Adhere to infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols.
- Understand and appropriately use the Chain of Command.
- Follow guidelines for Core Measures and vaccine protocols.
- Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize care needs.
- Care for patients across the age continuum from neonates to geriatrics.
- Respond competently to minor to life-threatening illnesses or injuries.
- Complete the ED skills checklist before the first scheduled shift.
- Understand patient flow in the ED, including Rapid Medicine Evaluation (RME).
- Perform nursing activities related to admission and discharge.
- Utilize the chain of command within the ED.
- Understand the teaching and physician residency model in the ED.
- Safely administer high-risk medications following hospital/ED policies.
- Document patient care accurately in ED flow sheets and other required paperwork.
- Maintain current certifications and skills relevant to emergency nursing.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
