Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
Location: Fullerton, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- On-Call Requirement: 7 days on call per pay period (2 nights/week post-shift + 1 weekend every 2 weeks)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, may exceed every other weekend based on unit needs
- Scheduling: Requests due to outside employment will not be considered; block schedule accommodations at manager discretion
- Charting System: Meditech
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital with 320 staffed beds
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1.5 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment in a similar specialty
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Job Responsibilities & Expectations
- Adhere to on-call and weekend coverage requirements
- Flexibility to float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance may be required
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- NURSYS license verification for RNs
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and Health Screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Training & Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams and skills checklists updated annually as required
- EPIC training modules must be completed and transcripts submitted prior to or shortly after start date
Additional Notes
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to call-offs once per two-week pay period
- Facility-specific scrub colors and badge photo requirements apply
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities nearby
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with on-call duties and weekend coverage in an acute care setting.
