Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming-in for infants alongside mothers.
- Newborn nursery available for infants requiring specialized care.
- Patient age groups: Neonates and Adults.
- Medication system: Omnicell.
- Communication method: SBAR.
- Weekend coverage: Every other weekend.
- Charge nurse role: Not required or preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
- AWHONN Beginner.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- Education:
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Massachusetts.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- N95 fit test within the last 6 months (specific approved mask models required).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (with medical exemption documentation if applicable).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination (declinations not accepted).
- Hepatitis B immunity titer or signed declination accepted.
- Varicella immunity via titer or vaccination (declinations not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (September–April); medical or religious exemptions considered with documentation.
- COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation.
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel; marijuana testing not required).
- Annual TB questionnaire required for past positives or pending TB tests.
- Badge photo required (passport-style, shoulders up, plain background).
Background and Screening
- Massachusetts Statewide CORI (iCORI) release and clearance required.
- Standard background check within 1 year of start, including:
- 7-year county and nationwide searches.
- Sex offender registry check.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in Massachusetts.
- Facility-specific compliance checklists and questionnaires (e.g., latex allergy, COVID exemption forms) must be completed prior to start.
References
- Two professional references required within the last 3 years.
Additional Notes
- First-time travel nurses will be screened for experience and considered.
- Facility does not require charge nurse responsibilities.
- Onsite N95 fit testing may be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
- Flu vaccine declinations require medical documentation and are reviewed post-orientation.
- Facility requires documentation and compliance with all listed health and background requirements prior to start.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery unit caring for both neonates and adults during night shifts in a supportive environment with clear certification and compliance standards.
