Cath Lab Tech Travel/Contract Job – Rockville, Maryland


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Caseload Ratio: 8-12 cases
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 full weekend call per month
  • On-Call: Approximately 7-10 days per month; STEMI call team must respond within 30 minutes of activation with a guaranteed 2-hour callback
  • Floating: No floating between units required
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Maryland
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Cath Lab Technologist experience
  • Experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Certification as RCIS or ARRT
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit Mask Testing: Must be fit tested within 12 months prior to start; no religious or medical exemptions accepted without facility-approved accommodation and PAPR training
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (must include Pertussis)
    • Positive titers or vaccinations for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
    • Hepatitis B: Positive quantitative IGG titer within 5 years; series must be repeated if low titer until positive or 6 doses received
  • TB Testing:
    • QuantiFERON-TB Gold or TSPOT blood test within 90 days of start
    • If positive history, must provide documentation and clear chest x-ray within last 5 years
  • Color Blind Exam: Must be completed within 5 years; online exam acceptable
  • Visual Acuity Exam: Within 6 months of start and annually; minimum corrected vision 20/40 in both eyes
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with no declination option except approved religious or medical exemptions
  • COVID-19: Strongly recommended to be fully vaccinated; declinations require facility approval

  • Parking: Badge allows free exit from patient visitor parking garage
  • Radiation Badge: Provided by facility for new radiology-related hires
  • Attestation of Prior Radiation Exposure: Required for new candidates working in Cath Lab or related radiology units
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and other competency exams as applicable
  • Orientation: Facility-specific forms must be printed and brought to orientation
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required, taken within last 6 months, professional attire, neutral background

Background & Compliance Notes

  • Maryland fingerprinting required for travelers in behavioral health units or campuses; must be completed in Maryland with results prior to start
  • Facility enforces strict tobacco/nicotine-free campus policy with mandatory drug screening including nicotine/cotinine
  • Candidates must complete a tobacco-free workplace acknowledgment form confirming nicotine-free status for past 90 days
  • Failed mask fit testing candidates may be considered for PAPR training only with proof of multiple failed fit tests and facility approval
