Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (5:00 PM – 5:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Scheduling: 4x12 shifts allowed upon request
- Floating: Required to float between similar units
- Locals: Not accepted
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ability to work night shifts and float between similar units
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Preferred Certification:
- AWHONN Advanced
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
- NURSYS verification required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
Background and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification of nursing degree (required for all RNs)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Work history verification required if reference exceptions are requested
- E-Verify attestation required
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Completion of Epic training modules as required by facility
- Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other nearby facilities)
- Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety questionnaire and medical clearance annually for travel nurses)
Uniform and Appearance
- RN scrub colors: Royal Blue or Navy Blue
- Pediatric RNs: Pediatric-friendly top with royal or navy blue bottoms
- Other department-specific scrub colors provided
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities in an acute care hospital setting.
