    Description

    Registered Nurse – ER (California, Antioch)

    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Schedule

    • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
    • Alternating weekends
    • Effort made to keep consistent shift start times weekly

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Certifications (must be current and from AHA or ARC unless otherwise noted):
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
      • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
      • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course; valid for 4 years)
      • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS; expiration 1-2 years)

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:
      • Social Security trace with all aliases
      • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
      • Nationwide sex offender search (within 90 days of start)
      • Education verification (highest level achieved; BSN preferred)
      • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
      • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
    • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
    • Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
    • 2 professional references required (within 3 years)

    Health and Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
    • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
    • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD (1st within 1 year, 2nd within 90 days), renewed annually
    • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
      • Measles (Rubeola)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
      • Varicella
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)

    Competency and Testing

    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for Telemetry units
    • ICU RNs at certain locations may require onsite EKG exam after start

    Facility-Specific Documents and Training

    • Must review and sign:

      • Code of Conduct (current year)
      • Overpayment Refund Policy (current year)
      • General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
      • Conflict of Interest Policy
    • Complete and sign conditional offer of employment attestation prior to start
    • Complete TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Epic Questionnaire required for RNs starting 11/3/2025 and onward
