Job Description
- Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using the nursing process and current nursing practices.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting safety hazards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, families, and visitors to promote a healing environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Department-Specific Functions
- Apply nursing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department (ED) nursing.
- Collaborate closely with providers and families in patient care planning.
- Participate in a healthy and safe work environment through communication and safety adherence.
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- 36 hours per week
- 2 call shifts per 6-week period (13-hour call shifts; must be onsite within 1 hour)
- 2-week night rotation required for all travelers
- No block scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) highly preferred
- Experience in Trauma Level 2 or higher settings preferred
