Description
Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (rotating weekends)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Call Requirements: None
- Floating: Required to float within the facility
Unit & Role Overview
- Support cardiovascular cases with training on CVICU devices
- Procedures include care for post-CABG, post-VAD, and post-cardiac catheterization patients with devices such as IABP, Impella, and ECMO
- Documentation system used: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (temporary license accepted)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Skills:
- Hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines
- Ventilator management
- Strong critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Exposure to Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Experience with Meditech charting and order entry
Dress Code & Appearance
- Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket for RNs
- Clean, healthy nails
- Neat and clean hair; no extreme styles or colors
- Facial hair must be clean and neatly trimmed
- Tattoos should be covered when possible; uncovered tattoos addressed individually
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
Additional Policies
- Badge in and out for each shift
- Mandatory 30-minute lunch break
- Punctuality required; clocking in after 6:45 AM/PM is considered tardy
