Registered Nurse (ER)

• Red Bluff, California

Job Details

• Travel assignment
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Emergency Room (ER) with 15 beds, including a 6-bed fast track open 9am-10pm
• Shift length: 12 hours
• Shifts: Various 12-hour shifts (7-7, 9-9, 10-10, 11-11, 2-2), schedules made 30-45 days in advance
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Work integrated into permanent staff rotation
• Nurse to patient ratio: Typically 1:4, depending on patient acuity
• Orientation: 2-3 days floor-specific orientation
• No floating required
• Charge nurse duties expected, including taking a small patient load if needed

Patient Population & Environment

• Approximately 100 patient visits per day
• Around 500-600 pediatric patients per month
• Common diagnoses: stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, psychiatric patients, and a wide variety of other conditions
• Level III trauma experience or above preferred
• Ventilator patients present
• Telemetry monitoring with Phillips central monitor tech in ICU monitoring ER patient strips
• Hospitalist or intensivist physician coverage 24/7; midlevel providers typically 9am-2am
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Support staff includes nurse aides, unit secretary 24/7, and tech coverage for 20 hours daily

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Work Hours

• 36 hours per week
• Shifts available during day and evening hours
