Registered Nurse (LDRP)

Location: Little Falls, Minnesota

Unit Overview

• Department: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
• Beds: 4 Labor & Delivery, 6 Postpartum, 1 Triage bed
• C-sections performed in the OR
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:1 during induction
  • 1:2 postpartum
• Common patient types: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Hyperbilirubinemia, Preterm labor, Triage
• Critical access hospital setting preferred

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Experience:

  • Labor & Delivery
  • Medsurg and Pediatrics
• Ability to titrate drips (e.g., Pitocin, cardiac drips, heparin, sedation drugs)
• Must be able to read cardiac/telemetry strips independently
• No prior travel experience required

Work Environment & Responsibilities

• Rotating shifts every 3 weeks between day and night (current opening is nights)
• Charge nurse present on each shift; may take assignment if necessary
• No in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia 24/7; both available on call
• Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, Airvo); RT on call 24/7, RNs troubleshoot only
• RNs monitor telemetry; Health Unit Coordinator also trained to read telemetry
• Nurse aids available from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: GE
• Scheduling done by scheduler; weekend requirement every third weekend, holiday every third holiday
• Floating to Med Surg/Peds when OB census is low
• Call/standby requirement with 1-hour response time
• No dress code; any scrub color allowed
• Unit-specific orientation: one 12-hour shift

• Successful nurses on this unit demonstrate strong communication, motivation, and approachability
• Radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any related facilities within the past year
• Return to office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission
