Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work on a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit with a Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU)
- Patient care includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, antenatal testing, triage, induction, high-risk pregnancies, pre-eclampsia, and C-sections
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by stage of care:
- Triage: 1:4
- Early labor/induction: 1:2
- Active labor and C-section: 1:1
- Postpartum: 1:4
- Unit has 14 LDRP beds, 9 overflow beds, 2 triage beds, 2 antenatal testing bays, 2 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 9-bed Special Care Nursery
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: May be required within specialty and sister units
- On-call: Not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD as applicable, updated annually
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required for the 2025-26 season
- COVID vaccine: Not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- OSHA questionnaire and latex allergy questionnaire required
- Two professional references within 1 year, including at least one direct supervisor or charge nurse
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years
- Various facility-specific documents and agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Additional Information
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating within specialty and related units may be necessary
- No on-call duties required
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery unit with a focus on comprehensive maternal and neonatal care in a supportive team environment.
