Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Number of Beds: 16
- Number of Staff: 45 (all RNs)
- Patient Ratio: 2 patients to 1 RN (2:1) for both day and night shifts
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) + 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night Shift: 1 CNC + 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Equipment Used: GE monitors, EV 1000, Hemispheres, CRRT (NextStage), Impella, Swan Ganz catheters, arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilators
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ventilator management experience
- Arterial line and central line management experience
- Chest tube management experience
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
- Neuro ICU experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specific to CVICU, including:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) recovery
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Impella device management
- Experience with Meditech EMR system
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- CCRN certification

- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Swan Ganz catheter management
- Arterial line management
- Chest tube care
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented, collaborative care environment
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
- Floating Areas: Medical ICU, Neuro Surgical ICU, Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Weekend Shifts: 2 weekend shifts every two weeks
- On-call: None

- Approximately 36 hours per week
