Description

NICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Shift: Nights (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU)

  • Weekend shifts: 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
  • 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Previous travel experience preferred

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current RN license valid in New Mexico (primary source online verification required)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS, PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI as applicable
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Education verification of highest level completed (transcript or diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
  • Fingerprinting completed onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
  • Negative 2-step TB test, QGOLD, or TSPOT within 1 year of start
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start if positive TB test
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations with valid documentation:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)

Additional Requirements

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Complete employment application/resume required
  • 7-year work history verification required
  • References: Internal only; not required for clearance

Work Hours & Schedule

  • 48 hours per week
  • Night shift, 4 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Includes weekend coverage as specified

Notes

  • Candidates must consent to fingerprinting prior to start (fingerprints must be redone for every new contract)
  • Orientation and EPIC training attendance allowed pending fingerprint clearance, but no unit work until clearance received
  • Medical exemptions for flu vaccine must be signed by a provider and approved by the client; religious exemptions require accompanying documentation
  • Declinations for vaccines are generally not accepted except for Hepatitis B under specific conditions

  • Minimum 1 year of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

This position is ideal for NICU RNs with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract with night shifts and weekend coverage in New Mexico. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
