Description
Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Location: Ithaca, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Description
- Provide patient care, circulate, and monitor interventional cardiac catheterizations and invasive vascular procedures.
- Experience with supplies and devices used in coronary and peripheral angiography, angioplasty, thrombectomy, stenting, and related procedures is required.
- STEMI call required; shift details negotiable during contract discussions.
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, valid throughout the assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid U.S. driver’s license or state ID.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience must be within the last year.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Professional Documentation
- Complete and up-to-date skills checklist for the Cath Lab unit, updated annually.
- Core Competency Exam (Nursing Core Comp I, II, III) with a minimum score of 80%, updated annually.
- Resume accounting for all employment and gaps over the last 7 years, including education details.
- Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years.
- Employment verification of the most recent employer.
- Signed and dated job description.
- Color headshot photo (professional, no filters, JPEG format).
- Agency background check within 30 days of start, including SSN address trace, county and national criminal searches.
- Completion of multiple required forms and acknowledgments (e.g., code of conduct, sexual harassment, self-study packet, parking registration, confirmation of assignment).
Health & Immunization
- COVID-19 vaccine proof or agency declination (optional).
- MMR: Positive IgG titer or two vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series must be documented.
- Varicella: Positive IgG titer or two vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series must be documented.
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or specific declination form required.
- Tdap: Within the last 10 years or specific declination form.
- TB Test: One of the following within required timeframes:
- Two PPD skin tests (one within 12 months, one within 3 months), or
- One Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months.
- For past positives, chest x-ray within 12 months may be required.
- Fit Test: Must be completed within the last 12 months prior to start; on-site fit testing available if needed.
- Physical/Health Statement: Within the past 12 months, including clearance with no restrictions, vitals, height, weight, Snellen eye chart, and clinician details.
- Drug Screen: 9+ panel excluding marijuana (not permitted to be tested in New York).
Identification
- Valid, unexpired U.S. driver’s license or state ID.
Additional Notes
- Contract length is 13 weeks.
- STEMI call responsibility is part of the role.
- Shift times are day shift but may be negotiable.
- All required documentation and testing must be current and compliant prior to start.
