Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Fullerton, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Unit: Operating Room
- Floating: Required to float between like units
- Scheduling: Scheduled as needed Monday through Friday; post-shift call required once per week from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM (may exceed to meet unit needs)
- Scheduling requests: Preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed; requests due to additional employment will not be considered
- EPIC experience: Required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Facility Type
- Acute Care Hospital with approximately 320 staffed beds
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide sex offender check, education verification, and more
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel staff; includes virtual questionnaire reviewed by healthcare professional
- Fit Mask Testing: Required annually for travel staff; onsite testing available if no valid record exists
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
- Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable units
Training & Competencies
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system
- EPIC training modules must be completed and transcripts submitted prior to or shortly after orientation
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or assessment exam required for L&D RNs only (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Local radius for travel assignments is 50 miles
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of submission
- Badge photo required for facility identification
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
