Description
CT Scan Technologist
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform complex CT procedures including computer tomography and related imaging techniques.
- Produce sectional and 3D images for interpretation and assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
- Use professional judgment to review and obtain patient clinical history, ensuring documentation in PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/family and document in EPIC.
- Administer contrast media as prescribed and verify exam appropriateness with physicians.
- Obtain outside studies and schedule them for radiologist comparison.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties.
- Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality using PACS.
- Prepare patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance following guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to their needs (age, culture, language, disabilities).
- Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays, every third weekend, with on-call and overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
- Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of a Radiologic Technologist program or a high school diploma or its equivalent
- ARRT certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Information
- Must be willing to cover 1 weekend of on-call obligations if needed
- Adherence to departmental policies on behavior, attendance, and punctuality required
- Commitment to maintaining CEU credits
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse patient populations
