Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • Shift Schedule:
    • 4 shifts of 10 hours (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
    • Rotating schedule
  • On-call Requirement: Yes, rotating weeknights, weekends, and holidays
  • Weekend Requirement: If on weekend call
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs (no floating to sister facilities)
  • Radius Rule: Must live within 60 miles
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in ER, trauma, ICU, critical care, procedural nursing, or Emergency Department
  • Experience with moderate sedation required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Facility Type: Teaching hospital, Magnet status, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 865
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrubs: Provided by facility
  • Parking: Cost applies only for nights and weekends; one-time $20 parking pass fee
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period

Onboarding & Documentation

  • Required Documents:
    • Driver’s License/State ID
    • Social Security Card or SSN verification
    • E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
    • Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before orientation
    • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Radiation Badge Process: Must be initiated before start; candidates cannot begin work without badge
  • All required certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date or renewed prior to start
  • Facility requires primary source verification of licenses and certifications
  • MUSC-specific forms and attestations (e.g., prior radiation exposure attestation) must be completed as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Travelers must upload vaccination records and complete required modules in the facility’s system prior to start
  • Candidates with facial hair are encouraged to shave or provide their own PAPR for fit testing compliance

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with critical care or procedural nursing backgrounds seeking a travel assignment in vascular interventional radiology within a high-acuity teaching hospital environment.
