Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) - Indiana, Lafayette
Job Details

- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:00 - 6:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Cardiac and Medical PCU (ICU Stepdown)

Unit & Clinical Requirements
- Unit does NOT accept travel pairs.
- Telemetry, IV start, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio) required.
- Experience with BiPAP, High Flow Oxygen, and ventilators required.
- Level I-IV PCU experience required.
- Charge nurse experience and conscious sedation preferred.
- Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- Weekend shifts required.
- Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana.
- Minimum 1.5 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drips.
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, sex offender registry, and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Transcript or diploma (official copy) required; may be pending at start.
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment with supervisory titles.
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95).
- Tuberculosis screening (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year.
- TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted.
Additional Notes
- Local candidates not accepted.
- Pending licenses not accepted.
- On-call shifts are not required.
- Valid driver’s license or passport required for identification.
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed prior to start.
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval.
- PAPR use requires facility approval before start.
This position is ideal for RNs with PCU/stepdown experience who are comfortable with telemetry, cardiac drips, and ventilator care, and who meet the licensure and certification requirements for Indiana. Night shift availability and holiday work are mandatory.
