Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift)

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:00 to 6:30)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • True ICU Stepdown environment
  • Care includes heart catheterizations, BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
  • PCU Crisis Criteria applies

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • PCU experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Requirements

  • Weekend shifts required
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • No on-call duties
  • Guaranteed hours with options for 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts depending on schedule

Licensing

  • Valid Indiana state nursing license required and must be in hand before starting
  • Pending licenses are not accepted

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, and education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (may be pending at start)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific respirators required)
  • Immunizations and titers required or strongly recommended:
    • TB test within 1 year of start (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted; history of disease not accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required

Documentation and Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy) required
  • Current and complete employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days
  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge nurse, manager, supervisor, or higher
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency required
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score required
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start
