Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

Location: Thornton, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• ICU with 28 beds divided into two pods:

  • Pod A: 12 beds (opened 1/2019)
  • Pod B: 16 beds (second floor)
• Staff: 42 total
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2; can vary between 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
• Equipment includes Pyxis, Plum Pump IVs, GE bedside monitors, Nelcor, Artic Sun, Sub Zero
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
• Unit handles neurosurgical, trauma (level III, upgrading to level II), cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, alcohol/drug withdrawal, and all ventilated patients

Schedule & Staffing

• Day Shift: 6 AM to 6 PM
• Critical care tech staffed 6 days a week, 9 AM to 9 PM
• Charge nurse present on both day and night shifts
• Variety of nursing staff experience levels, some with 20+ years tenure
• Intensivists available 24/7, supportive and teaching-oriented

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Experience with Meditech EMR
