Description
Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 34
- Patient Ratio: 4:1
- Staffing Support:
- Charge nurse without assignment when census allows
- Patient Care Technicians available each shift
- Dedicated telemetry monitoring support
- Equipment:
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
- High-flow nasal cannula
- Chest tubes
- PCA pumps
- Alaris IV infusion pumps
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Scheduling:
- 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week period
- Holiday rotation
- Floating Policy: Float within competency
Patient Care & Experience Requirements
- Bedside shift report
- Hourly rounding
- Patient-centered care standards
Required Skills & Competencies
- Telemetry interpretation
- Management of cardiac, neuro, and progressive care patients
- Time management in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Advanced Skills Needed
- Management of vasoactive drips (within PCU/IMC scope)
- Chest tube care
- High-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP
- Care for post-cardiac procedure patients
- Participation in rapid response
- Procedures performed on unit include TEE and cardioversions
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Utah
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown (Progressive Care) nursing experience
- Stepdown experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Telemetry experience and telemetry interpretation skills
- Experience with chest tubes
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy
- Experience with CPAP
