Job Details
- Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Fullerton, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital with 320 staffed beds
- Charting System: Meditech
- Parking: Free parking available
Job Description
- Work in the Cath Lab with a focus on STEMI and neuro call rotations (neuro skills highly preferred).
- On-call requirement: 7 days on call per 2-week pay period (2 nights per week post-shift plus 1 weekend every 2 weeks).
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend but may exceed this to meet unit needs.
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
- Start date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in California
- Minimum 1.5 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- EPIC experience
On-Call and Scheduling
- 7 days on call per 2-week pay period (2 nights/week post-shift + 1 weekend/2 weeks).
- Block schedule accommodations are at manager discretion.
- Facility may call off once per two-week pay period.
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma (required if international education).
- NURSYS license verification for RNs.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable).
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment.
Training and Competencies
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Competency exams and skills checklists updated annually as required.
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
- Background checks include SSN trace, death master index, sex offender registry, education verification, and more.
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific requirements and searches as applicable.
- Badge photo required for facility identification.
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with prior travel contract experience, strong neuro skills preferred, and proficiency in EPIC. The role requires flexibility for on-call and weekend shifts and adherence to comprehensive credentialing and compliance standards.
