    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

    Location: Santa Monica, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Work in a Labor and Delivery unit with:
      • 4 antepartum rooms
      • 9 labor/high risk rooms
      • 3 triage rooms
    • No on-call required
    • May float to postpartum unit if needed (including postpartum couplet care: newborn and maternal)
    • Responsibilities include:
      • Fetal heart monitoring
      • High-risk pregnancy monitoring
      • Assisting with C-sections and vaginal deliveries
    • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
    • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
    • Charting system: Epic

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
    • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Certifications:
      • ACLS (American Heart Association certification required)
      • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
      • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
      • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

    Compliance and Documentation Requirements

    • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
    • Social Security Card (as applicable)
    • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
    • Education verification (nursing degree verification required)
    • NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work
    • Immunizations and health screenings:
      • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
      • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
    • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
    • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
    • Fit mask testing required (annual update), onsite testing available if needed

    Training and Competency Requirements

    • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
    • Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start date
    • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
    • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring competency exam or valid EFM certification required for L&D RNs

    Additional Information

    • Floating policy acknowledgment required (may float to other units within reasonable distance)
    • Guaranteed hours with possibility of one call-off per two-week pay period
    • Local radius for assignment: 50 miles
    • Parking fees apply (various options available)

    References and Employment History

    • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates worked

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses with prior travel contract experience who are certified in advanced fetal monitoring and life support certifications, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a well-equipped acute care hospital in California.
